March 2017 Newsletter

From my perch here in the Great White North of Madison, it appears the weather gods have messed with us again. It was 70 degrees one day last week, and above 60 for a few days in a row. Today on March 1 it’s snowing and we’re supposed to have 2-4 inches. It’s always an odd time of year for weather but 70 in February here and then back to snow seems a tad cruel. But hey, the upside is it’s March 1 and spring is officially here in a few weeks. And with that, we have several new projects to talk about. Thanks for listening and have a great month!--Mike

New clients/Upcoming releases

The Two Tracks Postcard Town (May 12) -- Formed in 2014, The Two Tracks are based out of Sheridan, Wyoming, at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains. From rock & roll to country, from bluegrass to folk, the music is expertly crafted, addictive Americana. Their harmony rich songs are often cello-infused with a high energy groove, life on the high plains and a penchant for lost love story telling. The group's first album (self-titled) was voted #1 Album in Wyoming by WY- NPR and now they are back with their best work yet, Postcard Town, recorded and produced in Nashville by Will Kimbrough.

Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley--This unique collaborative effort between two uniquely gifted musicians continues to be a revelation to traditional music fans on several counts. Rob Ickes is a longtime, well-established instrumental giant, and Trey Hensley is still somewhat new to Music City, bursting with talent both as a vocalist and guitarist. Their debut album, Before the Sun Goes Down, was nominated for a Grammy and their follow-up on Compass Records, The Country Blues, was released in July 2016. Rob & Trey are currently on an extended spring tour.

Todd Adelman & The Country Mile Time Will Tell (May 12)-- Todd Adelman & The Country Mile’s Time Will Tell, the Colorado recording artist’s sixth full length release, is a raw and rollicking journey through the heart of roots-rock, folk, blues and country that sings with guts and glory telling tales of Americana in heartfelt and stunning fashion. A songwriter in the truest sense, Adelman’s compositions and performances draw influence from the great troubadours such as Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Gram Parsons, Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt and Robert Earl Keen.

Returning Clients

Paper Bird—As part of its continued touring in support of their latest self-titled release in 2016, Denver based band Paper Bird is taking part in Breck Trek, Breckenridge Brewery’s year-long “trek” that includes an art show, beer dinner, a Paper Bird performance and more in cities throughout the U.S. There are two shows this month—Orlando on March 16 and New York City on March 30.

Darrell Scott—Whether it's rock, folk, country or blues, Darrell Scott, the four-time Grammy nominated Nashville singer-songwriter, has written hits all the way from Brad Paisley and the Dixie Chicks to Del McCoury, Sam Bush and Keb Mo; contributing songs to three of 2016’s best albums alone. It’s not surprising that Scott wrote nine of the 14 songs on his latest album, Couchville Sessions, and he continues to showcase that material on tour.

Tropidelic—Tropidelic formed along the banks of the Cuyahoga River in murky Kent, Ohio in 2008. The band’s effortless fusion of funk, hip-hop and reggae comes together seamlessly due to the drastically different musical tastes of all members combined. Fast-forward almost nine years, the band has undergone a few makeovers – from relocations to member changes, Tropidelic has come a long way in such a short time. Currently based in Cleveland Heights, they’ve been touring and recording incessantly and later this year will release their latest work Heavy Is the Head.
